About Suspended Split Squat

The suspended split squat follows the same principle as the classic Bulgarian split squat, but with the rear foot suspended in a strap instead of resting on a fixed bench. This suspension adds constant instability that the rear foot must manage throughout the movement, greatly increasing the stabilization demand on the torso, hips, and standing ankle. The free foot in the strap sways slightly, forcing the front leg's stabilizer muscles to work continuously to maintain balance. It's an excellent exercise for building unilateral quad and glute strength while training proprioceptive qualities, especially useful for athletes in change-of-direction sports. It only requires suspension straps, making it accessible at home as well as in the gym.
